Project:
CowParade New York
Client:
CowParade Holdings Corp., Velocity
Sports & Entertainment
Overview:
CowParade was the first-ever citywide
public art exhibit in New York City.
The 500 fiberglass, life-sized sculptures
were designed and painted by local
artists and displayed in the parks,
plazas and buildings of the five boroughs.
Production
Plan:
Eventage was retained as the production
and logistics team behind CowParade
New York 2000. Eventage managed every
production element involved with the
event; from coordinating the shipping
of the blank sculptures from manufacturers
in Florida and California, to managing
the public painting sites where artists
could work, to securing the venues
for the cows to reside for the summer.
Working
closely with NYC Parks and Recreation,
NYC 2000 and building management companies
throughout the city, Eventage scouted
and secured both public and private
property to display the cows. In addition,
Eventage established a Cow Damage
Hotline in order to effectively dispatch
crews to inspect and repair cows throughout
the city.
Results:
As the New York Times said, "This
summer will be remembered for metal
scooters and fiberglass cows." The
cows were literally everywhere, from
fountains to footpaths, and were covered
extensively in the press. The CowParade
auctions, both live and online, raised
over $3 million for charity. Many
of the cows are now safe and sound
with their new, proud owners.
Client
Feedback:
"I want
to thank you for your tireless dedication,
hard work and resourcefulness. CowParade
was a resounding success in the Big
Apple, and you made the New York event
possible." Jerome
